Abstract text

Imaging technologies provide a powerful approach to simultaneously study the signalling and organisational state of cells. I will discuss the development of machine learning and computer vision methodologies for automated phenotyping and visualisation of bioimage data. This includes predictions of patient outcomes from histopathological and highly multiplexed imaging data. I will demonstrate how, by designing explainable AI systems, we can move beyond predictive AI to explain underlying biological phenomena and driving cellular events.
